We started our journey back in early 2020 in the Kentish coastal town of Deal. Founded by Daniel Styles-Martin, our aim was and still is to create beautiful bags and accessories using sustainable fabrics in the UK.
No cheap imports. No seasons. Just quality pieces to be enjoyed year after year.
We’re often asked where our name comes from. Our founding town of Deal was originally listed in the 1086 Doomsday book as Addelam, so this is a gentle nod to our local heritage.
Our Materials
The materials we use are the heart of what we do. When we first set out creating the Studio Addelam brand, our intention was to create beautifully individual pieces from fabrics that often end up wasted. We hunt high and low for quality deadstock fabrics (often wasted in the fashion industry once a season ends) and one off remnant pieces, usually left over from other projects. If we ever use virgin fabrics, we aim for these to be the most sustainable option we can find such as recycled fibres, organic or UK woven This culminates in our customers receiving pieces that are made responsibly, in extremely small quantities and often a one of a kind colour combination.
Our Craftmanship
We’re proud to say all our pieces are made right here in the United Kingdom. Whether it be our trusted manufacturing partners or the Studio Addelam workshop itself, it’s all made by hand in small quantities. We fly the flag for UK manufacturing, celebrating British craftmanship and reducing the demand for imported goods. Buy British and support our economy.
Our Promise
We promise to act in a kind and responsible way. We’ll respect our environment, always striving to improve our standards. We promise to look after our customers and ensure they have a great experience.
